The Oakville & Milton Humane Society’s leadership training program offers 14-17 year old teens the chance to interact with a selection of animals in the shelter while advancing their leadership and teamwork skills. Leaders in Training (LITs) will shadow the camp staff and help to educate campers on issues such as proper animal handling and safety. This partnership with the Kids & Critters Camp staff includes constant supervision, communication, and feedback and encourages personal growth!
The Leader in Training program runs weekly with dates coinciding with the 8 weeks of our Kids and Critters Summer Camp. Applications open at the end of March, with interviews beginning in early June. If selected, students will receive leadership and camp training during a mandatory training session and then practice their skills during their assigned week of camp. LITs can put these hours towards community service and resume building.
How much is the program? The fee for the program is $75 (once offered a position) and covers lunch on Friday of your camp week, t-shirt, LIT manual and training session.
