1st Annual Doggie Dip

Last Splash of the Summer!

  Does your furry friend love to cool off in the pool? Does your canine companion like to swim in the lake? If so, we’ve got a fun event for your pups and pooches!

Join us for a 30-minute splash and swim session on Saturday September 11. The Town of Oakville pools are closed for the season, but they are leaving one open for one last chance splash for our furry friends.

Date: Saturday September 11

Time: 11-4pm (30-minute time slots)

Location: Lions Pool, 133 Rebecca Street, Oakville

Tickets: $25 until end of day September 3, $35 after September 3

Purchase a ticket online for your dog at the early bird rate of $25.  This grants admission for a dog and 1 individual for one of the designated swim times.

Each swim time will be open to a maximum of 15 dogs.  At the end of each swim, there will be a 15-minute transition period, for cleaning and preparation for the next group of 15 dogs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there an event waiver?

Yes.  There is an event waiver you will accept when you purchase your swim time.  Each human bringing their dog to the Doggie Dip event will also be required to fill out a COVID-19 screening to be permitted into the event.

How many people can accompany each dog in the pool area?

To maintain a safe distance between participants, only one human participant can accompany each dog.  We encourage all attendees to wear a mask.  

Can I swim with my dog in the pool?

Attendees are not permitted in the pool with their dogs.

Can I bring my dog's toys to the event?

Attendees are not permitted to bring their own pool toys.  We will supply tennis balls for the dogs.

Is this an off-leash event?

Dogs are permitted off-leash in the fenced off pool area once the announcer gives the go-ahead.  At the end of your time slot, another announcement will be made to leash your dog before leaving the pool deck. 

How will my dog access the pool?

There are sets of steps where dogs will be able to enter and exit the pool.  We will also have volunteers available to assist with helping dogs out of the pool if required.

Can my dog and I explore other areas of the park during the event?

There are paths and streets nearby Lion’s Pool and the Trafalgar Community Centre.  Your dog must be leashed in accordance with town by-laws outside of the pool deck.

What if my dog does not get along with other dogs and people?

If a dog is showing unfriendly behaviour towards people and other dogs, the OMHS will ask that the dog be removed from the pool/event area.
