Our Animal Protective Services department recently responded to a call for an opossum pacing back and forth in a residential backyard by a pool in Milton. The opossum was reported to have a possible injury on its hind end. An officer responded and contained the opossum who appeared to be quite healthy at that time. It was safely transported back to the OMHS to be assessed by one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) just to be certain.
The RVT discovered a small cut on the opossum’s back that appeared to be healing well. The animal was then left to rest for a few hours in a quiet space. Our officer brought the opossum back to its home for a successful release later that evening.
