Nine months ago, the Prancing with the Stars Committee was well into the planning for how we would follow the wildly successful inaugural event of 2019 with another high energy, exciting and entertaining event in 2020. The ideas were flowing, the preparations were falling into place and then, just two weeks into the month of March – COVID-19 changed everything.
Over the next several months, Prancing with the Stars – Physical Distancing Edition started coming together. Our first ever, video dance competition was taking shape. We welcomed back our Presenting Sponsor Royal Canin. We welcomed back our Platinum Sponsor Virox Technologies, makers of Prevail Disinfectants and we welcomed back Ren’s Pets. We still needed support in bringing our plans for a virtual finale to life. Thanks to Brad Dalgarno, Quinn Dalgarno and the team at Starshot Marketing, all the pieces for our virtual broadcast fell into place.
Throughout the months of August, September and October, members of our community ‘pranced like no one was watching’. They recorded and submitted their dances and they fundraised! And, on the night of November 5, the winners in each of our four categories were chosen. Congratulations to the following dancers:
- In the Individual category, the winner is Emily Broitman.
- In the Pairs category, our winners are Lily and Rowan.
- In the Group category, the winners are the Page Family.
- In the Animal category, the trophy went to Cici and Nara.
Lots of winners in this competition, but the biggest winners of all, are the animals of OMHS. Thanks to our sponsors, our dancers, and the donors to this event, we raised $40,000 including a surprise gift from P3 Vet Partners!
2020 has been a difficult year to say the least. Even though the event has come to a close for this year, we hope you will all find reasons to Prance! #Prancelikenooneiswatching #PWTS
