Russian Dwarf Hamster * Female * 9 Months Old

Profile:

Cleo was surrendered by her owners as her mom had an unexpected litter and were unable to care for them!

Hamsters do make great pets, but aren't for everyone. With an average lifespan being between 1-2 years, these small nocturnal creatures may not require a lot, but are by no means for the lazy owner! They, just like other small animals, should have regular exercise, whether on a wheel or with interactive toys and housing in their cage. Because they are so small and VERY quick, a family should take precautions before socializing them out of their cages, ensuring that the area is escape-proof, remembering that they can be difficult to handle and catch.

Many types of Hamsters do have a tendency to nip if feeling threatened, but if handled regularly, this behaviour can be worked on. It may come as a surprise to most, but Hamsters are a more suitable pet for older children, and parents should keep this in mind when considering bringing a Hamster into the family.
